...shattered on its own. Yes, no kidding, I repeat, it shattered into pieces on its own. Last Saturday we were watching TV downstairs, and suddenly heard a loud noise, which was like lots of objects falling. At first we thought it's something else on the street and didn't pay much attention. But after a while when I went upstairs to get changed, I found that the inner shower door has shattered into thousands of pieces and the entire tub was covered with glasses. The glasses were also all over the washroom floor. The first thing that came across my mind was someone has broken in, but then I found all the other windows were tight. Apparently the door just shattered with no apparent reason.
We called up KB Home and they had it cleaned up and replaced the following week. I tried to research for the cause of this mystery, but cannot find anything on the web. When a guy finally came to replace the door, I asked him if it's normal that the door will shattered on it's own. And he said "Yeah, this happens. Maybe it's because of some glitches in the tempering process, usually in a stock of a couple hundred doors, we notice one or two shatters on it own."
So at least I know our house is not a Monster House. I guess this rarely happens, and we should thank God that this doesn't happen when we were taking a shower.

The shower door is not made of glass, but a kind of plastic, something called steelized glass. If it's broken, it'll shatter to prevent hurt people. But a very small glitch will make it shatter.
Dude, this just happened to our shower tonight. Spooked us good. Did some searches on the web and found out that it happens once in a while. Freaky though.
This just happened to my daughter. The shower door was made of tempered glass and just burst. She had just gotten in the shower. Unfortunately not so lucky and spent hrs in er getting stitches. Still has glass in the bottom of her feet. Several stitches in her hand and splinted because of a cut to the tendon. Her legs and back have a lot of little cuts. I was told that the glass did what it was supposed to do and break into small pieces instead of large sharp pieces that could stab someone and kill them. Still doesn't seem like something anyone would want in a shower. Not a pleasant experience
this has just happened to me. i went upstairs and noticed the shower door had shattered ive know idea how
i rent this house, so when i told the landlord, he said they dont just shatter themselves, and he thinks i did it and says i have to pay
how can i prove i didnt break it?
Too bad he doesn't believe you. But it does happen. Send him to this link.
Just happened to my shower pane, not the actual door... Landlord doesn't seem to believe me that it was totally random and not my fault! Hoping she is not a complete bitch and fixes it at no cost to me!
